The Increasing Importance of Implementing Strategic Goals with Front-line Employees as Employee Count Rises
Setting strategic goals for an organization that trickle down to and include middle management and front-line employees is not always an easy task. As the number of employees grows, I’ve seen that the difficulty in implementing an overarching strategic approach increases exponentially. As does the importance of doing so.
In my organization, there are over 20,000 employees that span four counties. We experience the challenge of synergizing tactics across the organization daily, especially with front-line employees. The biggest problem with this, in my opinion, is that consumers typically view the brand based on their interactions with the front-line workers. So, while we may be spending lots of money on marketing campaigns that say one thing, ultimately, our front-line employees must be in line with and carry out the substance of our messaging. Otherwise, it can actually backfire and seem hypocritical.
